Because I am pretty young (I’m still in my twenties, but that is about as much as I am prepared to disclose!) I often wonder whether I should be changing my career or not. The only problem with this is that I’ve absolutely no idea what other type of job I’d like to do. I’ve spent so long working in an office environment that my imagination has suffered a little bit as a consequence you see… I’m sure there are lots of viable job alternatives to consider; I just don’t know what any of them are is all!
Sometimes in life you make mistakes. That’s just the way. I have made a lot of mistakes, but one of them sticks in my mind for good reason. It taught me a very simple but very important lesson: never talk about what you don’t understand…
1 year ago at work a new girl started. She was the kind of blonde, pretty girl who you’d immediately think couldn’t add 2 plus 2. But in fact, as the weeks go by she proved her mathematical brain was not to be messed with. Smart and clever, we got on well. Until the day I made a joke about her make-up.
…even if you know people, you might not know everything about them…
When you’re in your early twenties and have just landed in a job, it might be the time when you want to splurge with your newly gained financial freedom. However, considerig the uncertainties within the market and unanticipated financial troubles that most of us face later in life, now is the time when you should put a small share of your earnings into savings. In addition, this is also the right time for changing your habits to ensure a good and financially healthy lifestyle and securing your future.
If you’re like me, i.e. a young fellow who has just made an entry into a career, you might be having a lot of stuff to do with your money. Of course, gaining a financial independence after several years of spending parents'money is a feeling that empowers you. However, as it goes without saying, with great power comes great responsibility, saving for your future becomes your responsibility as well.
While it might be irresistible to curb your temptations of buying your Nintendo gaming consoles and R4i cards, it’s definitely worth saving small amounts of cash regularly following the tips given below:
Avoid use of Plastic money for shopping
Plastic money, particularly, credit cards, do not help stop your urge to buy stuff. Instead, they encourage you to spend money. It’s wiser to spend cash which you have in your pocket rather than buying with the money you don’t currently have.
Invest regularly
At this age when you’re not having too many responsibilities, taking out some cash to put into your savings is rather easier. You can find out about various saving schemes, accounts with good interest rates, or maybe, buy some financial products like mutual funds, retirement funds etc.
Learn about personal finance and taxation
A penny saved is a penny earned. And, that’s why it’s crucial to learn about personal finance and ways to save tax. This will help you learn about budgeting, various ways of investing your money and practical ways to save your money. Besides, as you might end up paying a fortune over a period of time in form of taxes, it’s definitely worth working on it right from your early twenties.
Your twenties are a time of great things, trust me. And in them you want to take advantage – to do things which you will later struggle to do! Such as follows…
1) Do lots of physical stuff: I mean running, cycling, swimming. Especially swimming. I can vividly remember being able to do the butterfly when I was in my early twenties…and now I struggle to do front crawl and wake up the next morning and not feel awful! Trust me, do everything physical you can, if you can…otherwise you’ll regret it when your muscles start to seize up!
copious amounts of drinking until you pass out, and staying up until a time which now you wouldn’t dream of!
2) Do appreciate your parents: when most people are in their twenties, their parents – if they have them – are fairly young. Use this time to do fun things with them and appreciate their youthful spirit. Then, when they’re old and grey, you can look back and remember those happier times when they could walk faster than a snail.
3) Do read philosophy: if you read philosophy early enough it enables you to look at the world in a number of different ways which you would otherwise never have noticed. If you leave it too late, until you are a bitter and twisted person, then it may be too late to appreciate it. Or at least that’s my opinion, but who knows…maybe that’s because I am bitter and twisted prematurely?
4) Do party: I mean, why not make the most of your life? This can include copious amounts of drinking until you pass out, and staying up until a time which now you wouldn’t dream of! Make the most of it, man!
5) Do get out of bed early and go for a run: running is a great way to kick-start your day and something which you should do if you can. This is similar before, but I felt like I should devote a whole point to this.
6) Do take advantage of your ability to eat absolutely anything: many people develop gluten intolerances later on in their lives which prevent them from eating simple things we all take for granted like cake and bread! All the more reason to get stuck in in your twenties, if you ask me.
7) Do write a diary of your experiences as a twenty year old. Even if you think it’s dull and boring at the time, I can promise you you’ll look back on those years and realise how amazing they were (even if some of them were spent in a cubicle at work selling Lining Fabrics and other such boring stuff…).

As a child I hated the rain. I have no idea why. While other children were out playing and splashing around in the biggest puddles their street had to offer, I was inside looking out. The rain scared me, truth be told. I saw it coming down and smashing into the pavement and I didn’t like the sound it made, especially as it flowed in a torrent off the roof and hammered against the concrete floor outside the porch window.
Up until recently, I was under the impression that all of us human beings have basically the same shaped heads. Okay, some people may be a little more egg-shaped, while others are more square, but essentially we have round heads.
How I was wrong.
The other day I ended up in a strange bar where there were only men with either very short hair or no hair. Many of them were quite muscular, and they were all very friendly. It More
As I sit here pondering why you would sell your gold just to ha enough funds to take you on that cruise I reflect on my life and why I was not enjoying it as I should be.
What I realize is that life does not and should not revolve around the work place and running errands. Your mind becomes more fresh and receptive to ideas when once in a while it gets a chance to just let go.
I love going to the pub after work, and it isn’t just because our local pub contains a fish tank that is a phone-box. It’s also because of all the characters you find in there. On any given day there is a combination of the following, and, if we’re really lucky, they might all be there. If that happens it can be like weird surreal dream:
1) Leather trouser man: he has a ponytail, leather trousers worn in the same More
My over middle-aged friend told me that he is being treated for an overactive bladder. It was a surprise as I did not know what that was. So I tore my solitaire playing self away for a couple hours to find out what this overactive bladder is.
Overactive bladder can start creating difficulties in every part of your life. But, it can be treated now and there are many ways available to fight More
